Interview with FMA's Vic Mignogna

Wed Jul 22, 2009, 12:07 AM
It's been crazy busy the last few days. Over the weekend I attented the London Film and Comic Con, a mostly sci-fi affair with people dressed up as Star Wars troopers, elves, fairy tale princesses and even Naruto cosplayers. (Seriously, Naruto kids get everywhere!)

I interviewed FMA's Vic Mignogna who is the voice behind Edward Elric. It was a funny conversation especially when we talked about Tamaki from Ouran High School Host Club. You can read the full interview here:

He is a very nice guy, I will blog about the day later, but I thought I would put the link up if anyone wants to read it.

Japanese Art Festival in London, 11-12 July 09

Thu Jul 2, 2009, 1:09 PM
Just thought I would let the people on the London end of my Watchlist know that there is a Japanese Art Festval taking place in Richmond next weekend. There will be:

- Manga workshop
- Cookery classes
- Cosplay
- Anime screenings
- Kimono fashion show
- J Pop party
- Origami and calligraphy and much more...

Although the event itself is free, certain activities such as the cooking class and tea ceremony will incur a fee. There will also be sellers there, so expect manga, anime and random Japanese stuff like Pocky. More info, click here: [link]

I'll be there and will attempt to draw a picture of Lelouch. However, he may well end up all Chibi (Sorry... Lulu)

Normal journal service will resume shortly...

Military photo shoot

Fri Jan 16, 2009, 10:05 AM
This sorta happened by accident. I was feeling a bit glum so I went to get a manga haircut, Yuki from Fruits Basket with a purple tint. There's a sketch in the latest volume of Fruits Basket where Yuki is dressed as a fighter pilot, so this inspired me to get all those military jackets out of the wardrobe!

So there are two new piccies of me. People who know me will know that I'm most comfortable behind the camera, so this was a bit of a change for me.

When people ask me which manga character I'm most like, I always say Yuki, but everyone says I'm really Kyo!

So being a bit of an army brat for an hour sure was fun.

It's been a crazy week but it's been ace

Sat Nov 1, 2008, 2:30 PM
First off, my most exciting news, an article of mine is in the Daily Telegraph today. It's the cover story on the Your Money section. Even I didn't know it was going to be on the cover, so it was a nice surprise.

Second, wasn't expo great? I met some fab people and some of the cosplayers I snapped got in touch to say "OMG- That's me!" It's great when that happens - the internet really does make the world a smaller place. I cosplayed as Yoite from Nabari no ou and a fan even came up to me to say, "I love you." It's sweet when that happens.

There was a whole load of other stuff, but heck, even I can't remember what it was.

Let's just say life feels great and I feel like the future is going somewhere. Kino springs to mind...

Peace out,

M.G

Tokyo Nights

Thu Jul 24, 2008, 2:22 AM
Got back from Tokyo a little while back and I'm missing the neon lights already. It was an awesome trip, I got to hang out in Harajuku, check out some really good bands in the nearby park. Bought way, way too much j-rock and manga that I can't read, but I'll just look at the pretty pictures instead. Bought a punk rock tie in h.Naoto only to realise it goes with nothing I own, but who cares, if it's good enough for Gakt, it's good enough for me.

Went to the Studio Ghibli Museum and a behind the scenes tour at Toei animation (the people responsible for One Peice and Dragon Ball Z). Did the whole geek thing in Akihabara, which was fun. Even tried karaoke!><

I've been blogging about the trip on my journalism blog, see below where you will find amusing stories about what happened when I wore my An Cafe t-shirt, weird drinks and my lost in translation moments.
